FRAGRANCES
We believe that all home fragrances should be non-toxic, clean, and safe. We curate our fragrances and craft our candles carefully to ensure you have a memorable experience. The fragrances chosen are a blend of toxin-free oils and essential oils, free of parabens and phthalates. We take utmost care to ensure the quality of the fragrances we use.
WICKS
The wicks we use are cotton core wicks, made with ring-spun cotton, and reinforced with small amounts of paper for stiffening and better burning. They do not contain metals like zinc or lead and are therefore non-toxic and sustainable.
WAXING ELOQUENT ON WAX
The most commonly used candle wax is paraffin, a petroleum by-product. We do not use paraffin in any form in our candles. We are committed to using only pure soy wax.
We prefer to use Soy Wax in comparison with all other varieties for several reasons.
SUSTAINABILITY -
Soy wax is a natural plant-based wax, quite literally derived from soybeans. These soybeans are grown in the US, and the wax is processed in plants located within the US. We are proud to support American farmers and American Agriculture. By purchasing one of our candles, you are extending your support to American businesses. Since it is a plant-based wax, soy wax is renewable, sustainable, and also biodegradable. Being environmentally friendly and sustainable is imperative to the quality of all our lives.
CLEAN BURN -
When heated in a candle, soy wax produces little to no soot. If there is any soot, it is usually from the cotton core wick, not from the wax itself. This ensures a clean, soot-free burn and a non-toxic environment, especially for those sensitive to allergens.
BURN TIME & QUALITY -
Soy wax candles burn nearly twice as long as paraffin wax candles. Fragrance oils are more evenly distributed in soy wax, leading to better hot throw as well as a well-sustained cold throw. Some of this depends on the individual fragrance oil as well, but it is mostly indicative of the quality of soy wax.
HOT & COLD THROW -
Hot throw is how well the fragrance spreads when the candle is lit.
Cold throw is how good the candle smells when it is unlit. Sometimes just leaving a jar open can spread a good fragrance.
CONTAINERS & PACKAGING
When possible we use US made containers. Unfortunately, to tap into good quality and diverse manufcaturing sources, we do have to look overseas. However, we import through other suppliers who are US based, and therefore as able to continue extending support to American businesses. We try to use minimal packaging, and prefer sustainable, recyclable materials.
We encourage customers to repurpose used candle jars. It is very easy to remove the wick holder from the jar. Just pour some very hot water to loosen the wick holder and pull it out with pliers if needed. Soy wax will melt with hot water, but please do not throw it down the drain. Pour it into your trash instead. Small amounts of residue will wash off with soap and hot water. The jar can be repurposed in a variety of ways.
We are also working on putting together a refill kit, so that you can enjoy making your own candle easily and quickly.
Thank you for your business and trust!
